6 Weeks to Eternity

In 2016 this large interactive exhibition transported visitors back to a typical six week holiday in the 1970s. Located at Rotherham’s Magna Centre, the exhibition was divided into ‘the seaside’ and ‘estateville’, reflecting the themes of Pete’s displayed paintings. The division represented his memories of this long holiday, spending one week by the seaside with the family and the other five ‘kicking about’ on the estate and ‘entertaining yourself.’

The seaside area boasted a helter skelter, a tat shop, a candy floss stall, rows of deck chairs and vintage pinball machines. Estateville comprised of several installations including a 1970s teenage bedroom and living room with a TV playing vintage programmes that used to be on during the holidays, a working men’s club and even a car parked next to estateville's garages.
