This image is from a series of four created for Pete’s 2014 Thud, Crackle, Pop exhibition. Each one of these paintings explores a specific genre of music through the portrayal of a record store. Looking for the Perfect Beat represents hip hop and includes countless iconic albums such as Dr. Dre’s The Chronic, The Fugees’ The Score and Ready to Die by the Notorious B.I.G. When deciding on a list of records Pete consulted with a couple of his mates: Sheffield hip hop DJ Andy H and hip hop buff Mike McQuillan, aka ‘Clipboard’.
Originally created for the 2014 Thud, Crackle, Pop exhibition.
